#103067 TNA Wrestling: The Pop Way

Posted by Philip C. on 26 January 2016 - 09:04 PM

TNA iMPACT Wrestling

Bethlehem, PA

12th January 2016

TNA iMPACT Wrestling opened with the three men who viciously attacked Matt Hardy.  All three have a microphone and the man in the middle has the TNA Championship over their shoulder.  They take their masks off to reveal Mike Bennet, Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian.  Bennet has a microphone and says all of this was thanks to one person and introduced Maria who come to the ring.  Bennett says that the four of them are going to save TNA.  Kazarian says what they did last week to Matt Hardy was an example of a person past his prime holding the World Championship.  Daniels says that the TNA World Championship will belong to the Saviours until they say so!

Kurt Angle comes out and says to be the Champion it means you have earned that spot and at the minute it’s over the shoulder of someone who has not earned their spot.  Daniels says that he and Kazarian have been in TNA before and worked their asses off since 2002 but were was their title shot.  Bennett says he knows Angle has a match tonight but how about next week Angle see’s if he can find Matt Hardy in a hospital and drag him to the ring to face the team of Kazarian & Daniels.  Angle accepts!

The first match of the night saw the two 3rd place runner ups in the World Title series, Bobby Lashley and Eric Young square off.  Both men got so close to the World Championship but last at the last round.  Here both were ready to prove themselves and move forward in their ranks to become World Champion.  After a great back and forth match it was the piledriver from Eric Young that allowed him to get the pinfall victory.

Backstage Jeremy Borash is with Rockstar Spud.  Spud says he excited to face Kurt Angle and reminds Angle that he won British Boot Camp and is the British wrestling machine.  Spud walks off as Borash looks confused….

The second match of the night saw Gail Kim defending her Knockouts Championship against Awesome Kong.  These two ladies have had tremendous matches in the past and again this delivered.  This time though it was Awesome Kong who picked up the pin after some outside help from Jade, Rebel and Marti Belle.  Kong held the title up screaming ‘THIS IS MY HOUSE BITCHES’

Backstage Ethan Carter III is pacing up and down the hallway. He says last week he lost the TNA World Championship after Tyrus turned his back on him and now not only does he have no World Championship, that very Championship is with a group of misfits.  The Saviours walk on to the scene as ECIII backs up.  Bennet tells EC3 not to worry, they aren’t going to hurt it and wish he had won the TNA Champion but instead he doomed TNA and is going to be the biggest disappointment of 2016!

Rockstar Spud is in the ring all excited for his match as Kurt Angle comes out.  The two shake hands as Spud puts on one hell of a match dumping some of the goofiness for some serious wrestling.  Spud got a few near falls but it was the Angle slam that allowed Angle to get the pinfall victory and go 1-0 on his farewell tour.

A pre-recorded video by Matt Hardy is shown stating that what happened to him was cowardly and if they wanted a shot they could have gotten one.  Hardy saying he’s not past his prime, he is in his prime and when he returns next week, they will feel his wrath!

Dixie Carter is seen sitting at her desk saying that since the launch on Pop, things have been a little crazy and a little too much for her to handle while also running things in the office.  She says next week she is appointing a TNA Commissioner.

Tyrus and Ethan Carter III square off in the main event.  While Tyrus is all about power, EC3 is constantly checking his shoulder for The Saviours and the announcers note this.  Tyrus nearly gets the upset after a big splash but it was the one percenter that scored EC3 the victory!  After the match The Saviours come to the entrance ramp and clap EC3 as the show ends…

News & Notes

·         The Saviours, Mike Bennett, Maria, Kazarian and Daniels have all signed multi-year deals with TNA.  Rumours have it that they will be portrayed similar to the Shield but have a purpose for their attacks rather than attacking anybody and everybody.

·         There was no mention at last night’s taping of Kazarian and Daniels formerly being known as Bad Influence.  It seems this name is to be dropped but as of now they are being referred to as Daniels & Kazarian.

·         TNA will still continue taping shows in advanced until it becomes financially viable to go live.  At the minute all Maximum Impact UK dates will be double tapings.

#102506 TNA vs. RoH - Destination Viewers

Posted by Philip C. on 06 June 2015 - 08:40 PM

Overall Quarter-Hours Break Down

- ROH Q1: 154,000 viewers (KUSHIDA vs. Will Ferrara, one commercial)

- ROH Q2: 98,000 viewers (Watanabe vs. Silas Young, one commercial)

- ROH Q3: 128,000 viewers (Moose vs. Colby Corino, one-and-a-half commercials)

- ROH Q4: 133,000 viewers (Briscoes vs. House of Truth, one-and-a-half commercials)

***

- TNA Q1: 234,000 viewers (ECIII-Angle opening promo, one commercial)

- TNA Q2: 151,000 viewers (Lashley vs. Eric Young, one commercial). This was the point where the audience "reset" after the cross-section in Q1.

- TNA Q3: 135,000 viewers (Brooke vs. Jade, two commercials). Viewership was impacted by two commercials.

- TNA Q4: 133,000 viewers (The Rising vs. Beat Down Clan, one commercial). TNA hurriedly presented out another edition of Rising vs. BDC without much fanfare, thus the lackluster audience.

- TNA Q5: 122,000 viewers (Rockstar Spud's decision to exercise Option C, one commercial). Surprisingly weak audience at the top of the second hour.

- TNA Q6: 159,000 viewers (Aries & Roode vs. The Wolves series, one commercial). The advanced promotion and build-up boosted the latest Tag Title Series match.

- TNA Q7: 175,000 viewers (Beautiful People segment, attempt to hurt Mickie James, one commercial). The BP are still a draw at times.

- TNA Q8: 169,000 viewers (Kurt Angle & Spud vs. ECIII & Tyrus main event, one commercial). After a slow start, the segment build to 200+ viewers from 10:55 to 10:59 p.m. EST for the finish.

#101912 WWA: America

*I know this is super unrealistic but creates a competitive edge with all companies exact same but just placed in different places around the world!

In 2013 something happened that shook professional wrestling to the core. Fans were no longer into the art of wrestling, but rather into boxing or mixed martial arts. One by one companies were folding their doors and even WWE were forced to shut after subscriber numbers dropped as did overall attendance.  At the end of 2014 Bill Gates decided to try and get the world talking about professional wrestling.  Gates studied his history and saw what a huge success NWA had been in it's territory days that he launched World Wrestling Alliance globally with each country having it's own promotion.

#96755 Steph & Trips might NOT be handed WWE

Posted by Philip C. on 26 March 2014 - 08:38 PM

How funny would it be.  Here is an excerpt from Forbes.com

The shares are flying both because WWE is seeking a new television contract, at more than twice its current rate of $160.9 million, and because of persistent speculation that McMahon, who has never articulated a clear succession plan, might sell the company outright (both Comcast and the Madison Square Garden Co. have been rumored as suitors). Another bright spot: Emerging market revenue has been growing at a 7% annual rate for a decade in countries such as India, Mexico, and even South Korea, to $116 million last year.
