So this HBO show is one I had never heard of until it began to be mentioned by the hosts of a group of podcasts I listened to about The Walking Dead. After continually hearing small bits about The Leftovers, I decided I should check it out, or at least determine if it's worth checking out.
The short: 2% of the worlds population (140 million people?) suddenly vanish. To where I am at, the show doesn't bother to address why this happened (or I guess they do, but they don't focus on that at all) but the aftermath, including various cults that rise, others that fall, and many of the events that happened in the three years since The Disappearance.
I've only watched the first three episodes, but I'm incredibly high on this show, and have heard that the second season is outstanding... it just wrapped up in the first week of December.
The showrunner is Damon Lindelof, who is known for being the showrunner of Lost. Also, the show is based on a book by Tom Perrotta
Go watch it!
